    Plaquenil preeclempsis antiphospholipid

Those with APS make abnormal proteins called antiphospholipid autoantibodies in the blood. This causes blood to flow improperly and can lead to dangerous clotting in arteries and veins, problems for a developing fetus and pregnancy miscarriage.

Antiphospholipid syndrome APS is a prothrombotic disorder which can cause thrombosis, embolism, or stroke and is highly associated with pregnancy complications like miscarriage and preeclampsia. The antibodies of APS are circulating anti-phospholipid antibodies aPL, which are characterized as anti-cardiolipin antibodies aCL, lupus-anticoagulant LAC, and β 2-glycoprotein antibodies anti- β 2-GPI. Other antiphospholipid antibodies include anti-beta 2 glycoprotein 1 anti-ß2 GPI, anti-prothrombin, and the “false-positive” test for syphilis. Like other antibodies involved in lupus that are directed against self auto-antibodies, antiphospholipid antibodies can come and go or increase and decrease. APS is a blood disorder where your body accidentally attacks normal proteins in the blood, which are made to control blood clotting. A person with APS has antiphospholipid antibodies. These antibodies cause blood clots to form. This leads to several complications, including Blood clots in veins DVT deep vein thrombosis

APS affects women five times more commonly than men. People with this disorder may otherwise be healthy, or they also may suffer from an underlying disease, most frequently systemic lupus erythematosus (commonly called lupus or SLE).

  6. What is antiphospholipid syndrome? Antiphospholipid syndrome APS is a systemic autoimmune disease characterized by production of antibodies – antiphospholipid antibodies aPL – that “attack” the person’s own body, resulting in blood clots and/or pregnancy complications. Antiphospholipid-antibody-positive patients also may develop other clinical problems.

Antiphospholipid syndrome APS is a disorder that manifests clinically as recurrent venous or arterial thrombosis and/or fetal loss. Characteristic laboratory abnormalities in APS include persistently elevated levels of antibodies directed against membrane anionic phospholipids ie, anticardiolipin aCL antibody, antiphosphatidylserine or. Antiphospholipid syndrome is defined by the combination of thrombotic events and/or obstetric morbidity in patients who have tested positive persistently for antiphospholipid antibodies. With good treatment, approximately 70% of pregnant women with antiphospholipid syndrome will deliver a viable live infant. Objective. To investigate the effect of hydroxychloroquine HCQ in pregnant women with systemic lupus erythematosus SLE. Methods. In SLE pregnancies of a single Dutch center 2000–2015, lupus activity and flares before and during pregnancy and postpartum were assessed using the SLE Disease Activity Index SLEDAI/SLEPDAI SLEDAI adjusted for pregnancy.
